ROMAN GOLD RING WITH INTAGLIO DEPICTING A CRAB.
Ca. AD 1 - 100.
A dark stone intaglio engraved with a crab shown affronté, its articulated carapace, chelae and splayed legs crisply defined. Set within a gold signet ring with a rounded hoop and a broad circular bezel formed as a high-sided collet.
