Carved in high relief, this corner fragment preserves the upper part of a sarcophagus basin, surmounted by its projecting cornice. It depicts a youthful deity, reclining, with a bare torso and a panel of drapery falling in soft folds over the lower body. The head, slightly tilted and turned towards his left, has a chubby face with full cheeks and a rounded chin, framed by a profuse, curly head of hair, the locks of which fall down onto the nape of the neck — a characteristic physiognomic type found in depictions of the young Bacchus.
