George SOWDEN (born 1942) Straight silver-plated vase with openwork flared neck and blue blown glass in the centre Algorithme edition Height: 36 cm Provenance: Private collection of Mr Jean-Pierre Hochet, bought from the Nestor Perkal gallery Born in the UK, designer George Sowden moved to Milan in 1970 and never left. A close friend of Ettore Sottsass, he was one of the founding members of the Memphis group in 1981. He has worked with many major brands, including Olivetti, Alessi, Bodum, Guzzini, Swatch, Moulinex, Telecom Italia and Tefal.
