Matteo THUN (born 1952) Nefertiti, 1981 (first edition) Glazed ceramic service with 12 hand-decorated pieces, including: 4 cups with 3 saucers, 2 egg cups, teapot, sugar bowl and a small "Palma" table sculpture. There is also a 4th saucer, broken in two parts. Mark and signature under the bases, made by the Flavia Montelupo Fiorentino ceramics workshop for Memphis Milano (IT). Provenance: Private collection of Mr Jean-Pierre Hochet, purchased from the Nestor Perkal gallery. Alongside Ettore Sottsass, Matteo Thun, with his asymmetrical geometric shapes and bright colours, made Memphis part of the pop trend.
