After Pierre Paul RUBENS (Siegen, 1577 – Antwerp, 1640). Engraved by Schelte Adamsz. à BOLSWERT (Bolsward, c. 1586 – Antwerp, 1659)

Engraving printed from three copper plates on three joined sheets. Approx. 56.5 x 85.2 cm
Inscription in the lower margin: on the left ‘Petrus Paulus Rubens pinxit’; in the centre ‘Ait ad Simonem IESVS, Noli timere: ex hoc iam, homines eris capiens. Luke chapter V.” and “With the privileges of the Most Christian King, the Princes of the Belgians, and the Orders of Batavia”; on the right “Schelte à Bolswert, engraved and printed. ’

Proof bearing the Bolswert address, apparently from the first of two states, preceding the Van den Enden address.
