Description
Henri EVENEPOEL (1872–1899) At the Ambassadeurs, 1899. Coloured etching, signed lower right, numbered 8/20 and inscribed ‘To Maurice and Kikine’. 11.2 x 13.3 cm. Note: The dedication ‘To Maurice and Kikine’ refers to Maurice Evenepoel, the artist’s elder brother, and his wife Euphémie Annez, known as ‘Kikine’. In 1898, Henri Evenepoel also dedicated the portrait *Mr and Mrs Maurice Evenepoel* to them; this work is now held at the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium. Exhibition: Brussels, Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium, 18 March to 12 June 1994. Documents relating to the loan of the work to the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium for the 1994 exhibition are enclosed. Provenance: Collection of Sophie Fraikin-Devis (1838–1919), the artist’s aunt; then passed down through the Fraikin-Verhaeren-Bellière family to Jacques Bellière.
