Description
Henri EVENEPOEL (1872–1899) A significant album containing 39 photographs relating to the artist’s life and circle of friends.
The album notably includes portraits of ‘Petit Charles’, of André Devis posing for Evenepoel, of the painter Simon Bussy, of the artist Charles Milcendeau and of the painter Francisco Iturrino González.
Several photographs also document Henri Evenepoel’s Paris studio and show the artist at work, as well as various works on display or kept in the studio, including *Dimanche au Bois de Boulogne*, *Café d’Harcourt* and *Henriette au grand chapeau*. A panoramic view of the studio reveals numerous paintings hung on the walls or arranged throughout the space.
Enclosed is a set of three older publications devoted to the artist:
- Henri Evenepoel, *Letters to His Father*, Brussels, René Van Sulper, 1926, excerpt from the journal *Le Flambeau*.
- Édouard Michel, *Henri Evenepoel 1872–1899*, Brussels, René Van Sulper, excerpt from the journal *Le Flambeau*.
- Édouard Michel, *Gustave Moreau and his pupils. Letters from Henri Evenepoel to his father*, Paris, extract from *Le Mercure de France*, 1923.
