Description
Belgian School, 1926. Geometric composition. Gouache and watercolour on paper, 9 x 8 cm, mounted on board; monogrammed ‘EVH’ and dated 1926 in pencil on the mounting. Provenance: The Van Huffel family, Tervuren; by descent. A small-format study exemplifying Belgian geometric abstraction of the 1920s, comparable to the Art Deco aesthetic developed within the circle of the architect Albert Van Huffel (1877–1935), who was invited to teach at La Cambre by Henry van de Velde.
