Adolphe KELLER (1880–1968) The little fishing harbour at Saint-Tropez, oil on panel, signed and dated ‘33’ in the lower left-hand corner. 46 x 55 cm. Note: Having settled in Saint-Tropez during the interwar period, Adolphe Keller found some of his favourite subjects in the harbour and the Provençal landscapes. This view likely depicts the small fishing harbour in the La Ponche district, with the bell tower of Saint-Tropez visible behind the houses. Using a light, sunny palette, Keller captures the Mediterranean light with a free and luminous brushstroke. Several of the artist’s views of Saint-Tropez are documented, notably from 1933.
