Christian DOTREMONT & Serge VANDERCAM (20th century) In the beginning was mud and God was not there, 1959. Mixed media on paper. Part of the series ‘In the beginning was mud and God was not there’. 50 × 36 cm. Note: This work belongs to the ‘Boues’ series, created in 1959 by Serge Vandercam in collaboration with Christian Dotremont. The accompanying documentation explicitly mentions this collaboration in an interview with Vandercam focusing in particular on his work with materials and ceramics. The combination of text and material is fully in keeping with the research undertaken by the two artists as a continuation of the Cobra movement.
