Abstract composition, kinetic sculpture, carved exotic wood, moving and interlocking elements. Signed and dated on the base: ‘M. Lavachery 6.75’. H. 25 cm.
Note:
A Belgian sculptor and artist, Michel Lavachery developed his body of work in the second half of the 20th century, focusing in particular on wood and sculpted objects. In the 1970s, he took part in the travelling exhibition *Le bois dans l’art contemporain* (*Wood in Contemporary Art*), organised by the Ministry of the French Community and shown, amongst other places, in Brussels and Liège.
There, he exhibited alongside Pol Bury, Jo Delahaut, Pierre Caille, Serge Vandercam, Willy Anthoons, André Willequet, Cantré and Jacques Lacomblez. His work forms part of the revival of sculpture and wood arts in Belgium.
A documentary file dedicated to him is held in the archives of the Nationaal Documentatiecentrum voor de Kunstambachten.
