An Antique Bruges patacon with two figures and dated '1803', patinated pipe clay, 19th century. Polychrome patinated pipe clay. Patacon with two figures, a nobleman and a lady with a bread basket. Dated '1803'. Bruges, 19th century. Patacons in the early 19th century were painted discs of baked white pipe clay. Bakers used these brightly colored relief figures (with religious scenes, animals, or figures) to decorate winter festive breads (vollaards) around Christmas and Epiphany. They were beloved collector's items for children. (12.5 x 14.5 x 0 cm) Condition Report: A condition report not being available doesn't mean the item is flawless.
