A Large and richly decorated Ostrich Goblet, pewter and ostrich egg, Renaissance style, Germany, circa 1900. Pewter and ostrich egg. Large ostrich cup or ostrich-egg goblet, a luxurious display cup for the Wunderkamer in the 16th and 17th centuries. Goblet and lid made of an ostrich egg, with pewter mount. Decorated with acanthus leaves, garlands, caryatids, and Moorish female figures. Lid finished with a three-dimensionally sculptured ostrich with a horseshoe in its beak. Renaissance style. In the style of Josef Lichtinger, Munich. Germany, circa 1900. (19 x 54 x 0 cm) Condition Report: Crack on the inside of the egg (not visible on the outside). Otherwise, in good condition.
