Description
A ‘Congrieve’ or ‘Rolling Ball’ clock, made of brass and marble under a glass case. 20th century.
A ‘Congrieve’ or ‘Rolling Ball’ clock.
On the lower plate, a ball rolls from one side to the other for 30 seconds.
At the end of its journey, the clock receives an impulse and the time advances by 30 seconds. At that moment, the plate changes direction, and the ball begins to roll in the opposite direction.
Driven by a spring with a worm gear and chain.
Marked on the front: ‘Sir William Congreve, London, Invenit’.
Clock: 39 x 34 x 20 cm.
Complete with the display box: 43,5 x 40,5 x 25 cm.
Brass, marble and glass.
