A Large dish in Italian majolica, decorated with Bacchus or Dionysus. 18th/19th century.
Italian majolica, tin-glazed earthenware.
Center decorated with the god Bacchus or Dionysus, with a laurel wreath of grape leaves and a thyrsus staff (with a pine cone).
The rim is decorated with cherubs, grotesques, and mythological creatures.
At the top with the 'S.P.Q.R.' banner (Senatus Populusque Romanus).
Dimensions: (W:53,5 cm)
Condition: Two hairline cracks in the rim and chip.
