Description
DARLOZ (born 1960). Nancy Town Hall, Acrylic on canvas. H_100 cm L_75 cm With certificate of authenticity. Darloz, a Franco-Canadian painter and photographer living in Nancy, grew up in Grenoble and spent many years in Canada. He reinvents the heritage of Art Nouveau through a universe he calls Nouvel Art Nouveau, combining an overflowing chromatic energy, multiple layers of colour that enrich the background and form, supple lines, vivid or suggested perspective and chiaroscuro, and vibrant urban landscapes. Exhibited for over thirty years in France and Canada - notably in Nancy, Vittel, Beaulieu-sur-Mer, Toronto and several Canadian galleries - Darloz also has a work in the museum collection at the Musée international d'Art naïf in Magog (Canada). His work, appreciated for its emotional power and its ability to reenchant reality, appeals to collectors and visitors alike with an instantly recognisable aesthetic that conveys a joie de vivre. In this painting, Nancy's Hôtel de Ville is adorned with a golden warmth and an abundance of details that recall the luminous elegance of the ducal city. The arches, stained glass windows and sculpted ornaments vibrate under Darloz's expressive touch, as if the façade itself were breathing. Here we find the touch of Nancy's Nouvel Art Nouveau: supple lines, decorative motifs, a taste for lively detail, a legacy of the École de Nancy that brought architecture and visual poetry into dialogue. A vibrant tribute to the artistic soul of Nancy.
