Description
19th-century French School Still Life with a Bouquet of Flowers Oil on canvas. H 65 cm W 54 cm In a beautiful Louis XVI-style frame. Still life painting underwent a significant transformation from the 19th century onwards. Although it had produced great masters in previous centuries, such as Monnoyer and Chardin, it remained a minor genre within the hierarchy of painting. The 19th century saw these conventions shattered by the revolution, allowing artists to break free. Still life then experienced a genuine revival with painters such as Henri Fantin-Latour. Our painting is a fine example of this genre. Expert: Cabinet Artéon - Expert: Cabinet Artéon
