Ferdinand BIROTHEAU (1819–1892) Mr Gaston PATARD de LA VIEUVILLE in military uniform, wearing the Legion of Honour. Oil on canvas, signed and dated 1884 in the lower right-hand corner. 117 x 88 cm. Minor imperfections and losses. Gaston PATARD de LA VIEUVILLE was born on 22 July 1842 in Rennes and married Maximilienne TITON on 20 March 1876 in Paris. He was a cavalry colonel and an officer of the Legion of Honour. He died in Nantes on 30 October 1922 at the age of 80.
