Lorraine Cross on a tin-glazed earthenware base, decorated with polychrome painted and enamelled designs on an ecru background with a gilded border, featuring a stylised thistle – emblematic of the region – and its handwritten motto ‘Qui s’y frotte s’y pique’. Width 6.5 cm and height 9.5 cm. Hand-painted, enamelled signature on the reverse, Nancy, c. 1880.
