SEVRES, 18th century, 1787
Two lidded juice jugs in soft porcelain, with a polychrome decoration of bouquets of flowers in medallions against a sky-blue background adorned with foliage scrolls and garlands of leaves.
Marked: interlaced ‘LL’, date letter ‘KK’, marks of the painters Joseph Chappuis and Madeleine Bouvet.

Provenance: from the sky-blue ground service, ‘flowers and fruits’ group, delivered to Citizen Empaytaz in 1794; the Cheremetiev family collection in the 19th century; the collection of Count Alexandre Dimitri Cheremetiev in the early 20th century.

These juice jugs come from the service described as having a sky-blue background, a group of flowers and fruit, and a rich gold frieze, delivered to the merchants Empaytaz and Company between 19 Vendémiaire and 15 Frimaire, Year III (10 October to 5 December 1794). Empaytaz and Company, merchants, purchased from the Sèvres porcelain works between these two dates twenty-five table services and a large quantity of other items for the considerable sum of 230,706 livres.
Pierre-Fédécie Empaytaz, described as a merchant, residing at 713 Rue de la Réunion, acted in particular as a commercial agent in France for the King of Prussia.
