Description
Sword of a Peer of France. Tapered hilt with a grooved mother-of-pearl plate. Chiselled, gilded brass mountings. Pommel with faceted sides featuring fleurs-de-lis. Guard with two straight quillons, ends shaped as a lion’s muzzle. Circular body knot featuring three crowned fleurs-de-lis. Double-edged blade with a central fuller, engraved, gilded and blued to one-third of its length. Leather scabbard with two cut-out, gilded brass fittings. Dated to the Restoration period (one plate missing, signs of wear, damage to the leather).
