Moulded wooden bergère, stamped ‘J.E. Lebercheux’, Louis XV period Upholstered in period blue taffeta. H. 86 W. 65 D. 51 cm Jean-Étienne Lebercheux (or Bercheux) (1742–1803) was admitted as a master joiner on 29 April 1766 (General List of Master Joiners and Cabinetmakers in Paris, 1768, page 83). In 1792, Jean-Étienne Lebercheux is listed at 34 Boulevard du Pont-aux-Choux, in the Temple district of Paris, as a piano maker. This maker’s mark has not previously been recorded.
