Large, flat ‘royal’ mahogany desk with mahogany veneer, stamped ‘Iacob’, 1820–1830
Brand marks: ‘LP’ crowned with the Louis-Philippe monogram, inventory marks from the Château de Neuilly and the number 10034. Each of the six drawers is numbered in marquetry on the edge of the top.
One leg requires reattachment. Sun-faded on one short side.

Château de Neuilly: formerly the residence of the Duchess of Biron, the Count of Argenson had a new château built there in 1751; in 1818, the Duke of Orléans, the future Louis-Philippe, acquired it. In 1848, the château was set alight during the February Revolution.
