Eugene PRINTZ (1879–1948)
A set of two walnut armchairs, circa 1935, with a slightly sloping backrest, seat and side cushions upholstered in coral-coloured woollen fabric, resting on two curved front legs that join two rear legs to form fluted, semi-circular armrests.
H.: 95 cm. – W.: 59 cm. – D.: 75 cm.

Note:
A variant of our rosewood armchair, displayed at the 1931 Colonial Exhibition at the Porte Dorée and formerly part of Marshal Lyautey’s reception room, bears a resemblance to our example.
Our pair of armchairs bears a resemblance to the armchairs produced by Printz for Madame Jeanne Lanvin’s office and fitting room in 1932.
A variant of our black lacquered armchair, exhibited at the SAD in 1933, bears a resemblance to our example.
