SNUFF BOX WITH A MINIATURE PORTRAIT OF EMPEROR PAUL I Russia, circa 1770 An oval miniature depicting Emperor Paul I (1754–1801) in a half-length portrait, wearing the moiré sash of the Order of Saint Andrew the First-Called Miniature: 5.5 x 4 cm Mount: D. 8 cm The miniature bears a close resemblance to the Portrait of Grand Duke Pavel Petrovich by an unknown artist, held in the collections of the Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg.
