JEWELLERY BOX IN WHITE ONYX, MALACHITE AND GILDED BRONZE MARTYN MIKITIN LAVROV, IMPERIAL RUSSIA, CIRCA 1825–1838 A rectangular jewellery box crafted from slabs of polished, translucent white onyx, accented with bands of Ural malachite marquetry. The original finely chiselled and gilded bronze mount is adorned with garnet cabochons. The interior, entirely lined with white onyx, retains its original fitting with a bronze hinge secured by its original screws. Hallmarks: master craftsman Martyn Mikitin Lavrov’s hallmark in Cyrillic ‘ML’ in intertwined cursive letters within a diamond shape; ‘G&M’ hallmark within a rectangular, multi-lobed cartouche 4.5 × 10 × 6.8 cm gross weight: 680 gr.
