GOLD-EMBROIDERED TORTOISESHELL CASH CASE LOUIS XVI STYLE, NAPOLEON III PERIOD, CIRCA 1880 A cylindrical case in brown and blonde tortoiseshell, entirely decorated with a gold-inlaid design comprising a scattering of stars arranged in diagonal lines. The removable lid and ends are edged with chiselled gold mounts featuring acanthus leaves and twisted basketwork motifs. Hallmarks: head of Mercury (left), French hallmark of guarantee for gold items intended for export L. 13.4 cm, D. 2.4 cm gross weight: 41 gr.
