JACOB-DESMALTER WOODEN ARMCHAIR WITH MAHOGANY VENEER, EARLY 19TH CENTURY This armchair is an excellent example of transitional furniture: its silhouette draws on the understated style of the Directoire period, yet is punctuated with ornamental details and was crafted during the Empire period stamped ‘Jacob D. R.
