OVERVIEW:
The Porsche 911 Type 997 was launched in late 2004, successfully replacing the controversial Type 996 (and its ‘fried egg’ headlights, shared with the Boxster). The 997 thus marked a return to the 911’s stylistic roots: round headlights, curved wings and a distinctive silhouette that pays homage to the air-cooled 911s. The 997 naturally took its place in the history of the 911, the legendary model that epitomises the Porsche brand. Produced from 2005 to 2008, the first 997s (Phase 1) were fitted with the famous 3,596 cm³ flat-six engine, producing 325Ch and 370Nm of torque. Coupled with the excellent 6-speed manual gearbox, they deliver very impressive performance figures, with 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds and a top speed of 285 km/h. With its relatively compact dimensions and modest weight (1,480 kg), the 911 remains the ultimate all-round sports car. Offering an excellent balance between comfort and sportiness, it delivers an effortless and engaging driving experience, coupled with reliability and running costs that no rival can match.
The Chartres showroom is delighted to present this 2006 Porsche 911 Carrera. This is a cabriolet model finished in midnight blue with a blue soft top and a grey leather interior. The bodywork is in good overall original condition with few signs of wear, which is rare for a vehicle from the Paris region and gives an idea of the care the car has received; this is also consistent with the mileage shown on the speedometer: 68,186 km (not guaranteed). The triple-layer canvas soft top is in decent original condition and operates satisfactorily. The interior is in good overall condition with some signs of wear; the original leather upholstery is in good condition and the original floor mats are protected by ‘homemade’ carpets. The vehicle registration document is missing, but a valid MOT certificate dated March 2025 includes details of the car’s first registration on 19 September 2006 and its re-registration under the ANTS system on 28 November 2011. Owned by the same owner since 2011, this 997 underwent servicing at an independent Porsche specialist in 2013 at 53,535 km for a wheel alignment. At the time of writing, this is the only information available regarding its servicing history. The vehicle starts and runs perfectly, with no battery issues (sometimes a weak point of this model). A test drive reveals satisfactory handling; however, a full service and the replacement of the worn tyres (2016 & 2017) are recommended before you can enjoy the sporty performance available at the slightest touch of the accelerator.
This Porsche 911, a 997-series convertible, epitomises the quintessential versatile sports car, suitable for both everyday use and for pure driving pleasure. For some years now, it has been a vehicle whose value no longer depreciates. With its status as a classic already established, this 911 may one day qualify for collector’s status, which will guarantee the value of a car that is already exceptional. Driving with the wind in your hair to the sound of the flat-six engine, paired with the manual gearbox, offers an authentic experience that is increasingly rare and sought-after.
