RUSSIA Dessert service for 12 guests in vermeil (84 zolotniks, 875 thousandths) and polychrome cloisonné enamel, decorated with floral and geometric motifs in pastel shades on a white background, comprising 12 dessert cutlery sets and 12 knives; the spoons feature matching enamelled ladles and twisted enamelled handles, with vermeil knife blades. Very good condition, minimal wear. Moscow, 1899–1908. Silversmith: Feodor RÜCKERT, for the Ovchinnikov House. In its original rectangular wooden case from the Moscow-based firm Mikhail Ovchinnikov, monogrammed ‘RF’ and dated 8 July 1907 on a brass plate on the hinged lid, the interior lined with red velvet and satin, gilded with the silversmith’s name beneath the eagle emblem of a supplier to the Imperial Court.
