Description
Bronze zoomorphic vase or pourer in the form of a fuzun mallard duck (fú zūn 凫 尊), a gripping chain. Mounted on a later wooden base. Very nice patina. The lid may be missing. China, Ming dynasty, 17th century. H. 13.2 cm with base; 9.6 cm without base This type of vase was inspired by a Song model (960-1279). At the time, it had no lid. It was later widely copied. A similar vase is in the Musée Cernuschi, cat. MC 00542.
