Ink and colour painting on paper, hoshi mandara (星曼荼羅図) (known as the ''Mandala of the Stars''*) for the Hoshi Matsuri celebration. In the centre, Ichijikinrin Butcho 字金輪仏頂, in the form of Shaka Kinrin 釈迦金輪 (Shaka with the golden wheel), manifestation of Shakyamuni Buddha; around and below, the sixteen devas (with a representation of the seven stars of the Big Dipper in the form of figures in Chinese mandarin robes, and the nine planets); In the second frame, the twelve signs of the zodiac; in the outer frame, the twenty-eight constellations of traditional Chinese astronomy, personified by Buddhist deities.
