OEuvres complètes 2024, Booksfactory, 2024, model listed under no. 68 p. 212-213, our copy referenced ; - Liliane COLAS, Petersen: sculpteur animalier, Bry-sur-Marne, M. Chelbi, 2004, cat. no. 68, p. 152. After a brief stay in Paris in 1914, Armand Petersen joined the studio of the sculptor Bêla Markup in Budapest. As well as learning to model, it was there that he received perhaps the most important lesson for his future creative work: the discovery of animal art and the observation of live models in the Hungarian capital's zoological park. He never stopped perfecting his work, always striving for elegance and purity of line. Ornamentation was eschewed in order to render ever more forcefully anatomical truth and the beauty of movement and attitude.
