Otto BAUER (1897–c. 1965) – Member of the Bund Österreichischer Architekten From a major collection of furniture for Mr and Mrs X, 7 rue Le Tasse, Paris XVI, designed in 1931 and installed between 1931 and 1933 A pair of convertible side tables, which can be arranged to form a round or oval table, in rosewood veneer. T-shaped legs; semi-circular tops with wide bands. The underside of each console table is fitted with a coupling system allowing them to be joined to form a round table. The rear of each console features a retractable arm which, when extended, allows for the insertion of a strip-shaped extension leaf to form an oval table. Each console: H. 75 cm – L. 100 cm – D. 50 cm Round table version: H. 75 cm – D. 100 cm Oval table version: H. 75 cm – L. 150 cm – W. 100 cm Shows signs of wear; chips in the veneer; the metal trim on the bases is missing. Provenance: - Mr and Mrs X; furniture from the complete interior design by Otto Bauer for their flat at 7 Rue Le Tasse, Paris XVI. - Passed down through the family. - Sale on 3 December 2020 at Baecque Lyon. Important: A copy (with strikethroughs) of a letter dated 18 March 1931 and signed by Otto Bauer, addressed to Mr X., concerning the final arrangements for the forthcoming work on the flat on Rue Le Tasse, will be provided to the purchaser.
