Description
A chiselled, patinated and gilded bronze clock depicting Eros playing the lyre whilst seated on a globe, made of black-lacquered metal, decorated with stars and signs of the zodiac, enclosing two rotating white-enamelled dials with black numerals, a serpent indicating the time, resting on an entablature supporting a bow, quiver, pan flute and torch, with a front panel depicting children at play, resting on four feet in the shape of Zephyr’s head (signs of wear).
Quadrangular plinth decorated with palmettes, centred on a Medusa, resting on four spinning-top feet.
Foreign work, circa 1820.
