‘L’escapade’, a section from the tapestry ‘Le soleil pour témoin’ (design drawing from 1978).
Wool tapestry produced by the Ateliers de la Bauze in Aubusson using the basse lisse technique; copy no. 4/6, signed in the bottom right-hand corner and bearing the workshop’s monogram in the bottom left-hand corner. Titled and signed by the artist on the Bolduc on the reverse.
Height: 161 cm – Width: 158 cm
Accompanied by its certificate of authenticity issued by the INARD Gallery, dated 17 October 2000.

The design was created in 1999 by Dom Robert’s beneficiaries, the Benedictine community of Saint-Benoît d’En Calcat (Dourgne, Tarn), and woven by the Atelier de la Beauze in Aubusson (the new name for the Atelier Goubely, following its takeover by Dom Robert’s heirs, the legatees of Suzanne Goubely).
The weave features the letters ‘EC’ woven into the weft – two inverted letters reminiscent of the inverted ‘2G’ in the Goubely-Gatien workshop’s logo.
