RARE ANTEPENDIUM in red velvet with appliqué and embroidery in silver and silk threads depicting the Virgin and Child, Saint Andrew, Saint Evèque and Saint John the Baptist in almond-shaped medallions set within an architectural setting of arcades and foliage motifs. Dated to the early 16th century. Fringe at the bottom added at a later date. 63.5 x 185 cm. Signs of wear and minor imperfections. Provenance: ‘Haute Époque et Curiosité’ sale at Piasa in 2018, valued by L. Fligny.
