Meteorites. Séricho Pallasite. Polished section mounted as a pendant. Approx. 16g. Approx. 3.4 x 2.5cm. Cross-section revealing the honeycomb structure characteristic of Pallasites. High density of translucent yellow-orange olivine crystals included within an iron-nickel core. Stabilised with a protective epoxy resin coating. Pallasites originate from the asteroid belt. They are formed by collision with another celestial body. Upon impact, the molten iron from the impactor’s core mixes with the olivine-rich mantle of the parent body. These are the rarest meteorites (1 per cent of those falling to Earth) and the most sought-after for their aesthetic appeal (Ref. Géoforum). Sericho, Kenya.
