Description
CRISTALLERIE DU CREUSOT. Moulded, cut crystal wine decanter, decorated with arabesques and rosettes. ‘Restauration’ style, circa 1830. Height: 29 cm. Blanched. This carafe is featured on page 294 of the book *L’âge d’or du verre en France 1800–1830* by Fernando Montes de Oca, published by F.M. The book states that it was manufactured by Baccarat around 1830, but it is in fact a model from Le Creusot. The factory was acquired in 1833 by the Baccarat crystal works and the Compagnie de Saint-Louis, which thereby took over all the production equipment, including the pattern plates.
