Description
[BOTANY] After Daniel RABEL (1578–1637). Two botanical plates on laid paper on the theme of the iris: Black-and-white engravings taken from the work *Théatrum Florae*, published in Paris between 1624 and 1627, these plates, nos. 43 and 46, illustrate the varieties “Iris bulbosa angustifolia flore albo/ flore aureo / flore violaceo” and, on plate 46, “Iris Tuberola flore atropurpurascente/ flore violaceo / flore purpureo / exotica Camerary / Tripolytana / Dalmatica minor’. Subsequently hand-coloured. Inscriptions, small surface tear and stains. 33 x 22 cm (plate). Mounted on double passe-partout.
