Antonio Tempesta (attributed to) - Scene of battle between horsemen Pen and brown ink on paper 44 x 61 cm Large drawing on paper depicting a battle scene animated by horsemen attributable to Antonio Tempesta (Florence 1555 - Rome 1630), executed in pen and brown ink with dense hatching, on several sheets joined to form a broad horizontal composition. The scene unfolds with extraordinary narrative density, presenting a tight interweaving of figures in combat, rearing horses, falls and close encounters, according to a dynamic and swirling layout that constitutes one of the distinctive features of the artist's graphic production.
