Paolo Veronese (copy from) - Adoration of the Magi 18th century Oil on canvas 59 x 43 cm A work of reduced format compared to the monumental model conserved in the Church of Santa Corona, from which it takes the general compositional layout but with evident simplifications. The scene depicts the Gospel episode of the Adoration: in the centre-right, the Virgin is seated with the Child, flanked by St. Joseph, while in the foreground one of the Magi, kneeling, offers the gift; the other characters and the entourage are arranged laterally, with figures of servants and animals, while in the background appears a ruined wooden architectural structure and, in the upper part, angels in the clouds. The scenographic and diagonal setting, typical of the Veronese model, is here translated into a more compact and less articulated form, with a reduction in the number of figures and a simplification of the architectural elements.Within the frame.
