Description
Allegory of Military Virtue Roman School, first half of the 18th century Oil on canvas 230 x 186.5 cm The work can most probably be attributed to the Roman School of the 18th century. The composition and stylistic approach reveal a figurative culture fully in tune with the artistic climate of 18th-century Rome, characterised by a strongly allegorical pictorial language, attentive to luministic rendering and quality of execution. Interesting affinities with the production of artists such as Charles Van Loo, Marco Benefial and, in particular, Benedetto Luti can be detected, especially in the construction of the figures, the softness of the modelling and the search for a measured and elegant expressive rendering.
