Born in 1992, Clarisse Mordret is a designer living and working between Paris and Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye. Having graduated in 2016 with a Master’s degree in Design for Luxury and Craftsmanship from ECAL in Lausanne, she went on to train in ceramics in 2021, completing the Creative Ceramist course at EMA CNIFOP in Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye. Her work straddles the boundary between functional ceramics and fashion accessories: without ever seeking to imitate it literally, she evokes leather by working with unglazed stoneware which, once fired, resembles its texture. Using slabs of raw clay, which she cuts, folds and assembles according to precise templates, she crafts hybrid vases — vessels that draw as much from the world of functional objects as from that of boots, capes or jewellery. This ambiguity is further emphasised by flat nails, rings, metal buckles and bridges that ‘adorn’ her pieces, explicitly affirming the coexistence of the two worlds that inspire her.
