Description
Rémy POMMERET Beneath the silver willows lie the woods – 2026 Glazed stoneware 71 × 24 × 66 cm Glazed stoneware 27.95 × 9.45 × 25.98 in. Provenance: Galerie La peau de l’ours, Brussels Acquired from the gallery by the current owner Born in 1995 in Paris, Rémy Pommeret draws his inspiration from a variety of fields: theatre, music, drawing and cinema. Passionate about the natural sciences, he is particularly interested in mystical and fantastical creatures. He has thus built his artistic world around depictions of animals, which he explores mainly through sculpture and printmaking, incorporating themes such as teratology and the natural sciences to create his hybrid creatures, thereby highlighting his central theme: the Anthropocene. He creates depictions of domesticated animal species, and even fictional creatures straight out of fairy tales or films. He even plays with the real qualities of ceramics to give his creations an almost lifelike appearance, with dimensions that are almost exactly those of the animals. Rémy POMMERET
