Description
Muriel PERSIL Two-headed beasts - 2025 Stoneware Monogrammed 51 × 35 × 46.50 cm Stoneware; monogrammed 20.08 × 13.78 × 18.31 in. Provenance: Galerie du Passage, Paris Acquired from the gallery by the current owner Born in 1966, Muriel Persil initially trained in drawing, anatomy and the nude at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière and subsequently in the studio of the painter Sotomayor. Having graduated as a set painter from the CNACFAG, she led a dual life for many years as both a practitioner and a painter, regularly exhibiting large-scale figurative works throughout France in which the body merges with lush nature, a refuge as much as a threat. In 2013, she turned to ceramics, where her work continues to explore the themes that had previously preoccupied her as a painter: metamorphosis, the confrontation between humanity and the living forms that surround it, and death viewed as a journey rather than an end. Since 2019, she has alternated between monumental pieces and objects that reconnect with the history of decorative ceramics. Recognised from the outset through several competitions, Muriel Persil is now regarded as one of the leading ceramicists of her generation. She is represented in Paris by the School Gallery and in Perpignan by Galerie Lligat, which dedicated its first solo exhibition to her in 2022. Muriel PERSIL
