A 2013 graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris and a diver since 2010, Elsa Guillaume blends her passion for the sea, drawing and ceramics in her creations. With a scientific perspective and a particular focus on environmental issues, she explores the maritime world through various artistic forms, from drawing to sculpture, including installations and video. She develops her artistic practice by combining research trips with studio work, where she moulds clay. She has taken part in various scientific expeditions at sea, aboard the schooner Tara, at the Roscoff Biological Station, along the Norwegian coast and, most recently, aboard the Persévérance, a supply vessel for the Polar Pod, Jean-Louis Etienne’s oceanographic vessel. Her work is regularly exhibited in France and internationally in both group and solo exhibitions; she has notably been awarded the COAL Prize for Art and the Environment.
