Lot no. 32
Description
Armand Seguin (1869-1903)
Gleaner between a low wall and a tree, 1893/1894
Etching on fine japanese paper
Proof of the only known state, from a very limited edition executed by Séguin himself, probably two proofs.
Annotated in pencil in the lower margin: tiré à 2 épreuves.
Blue artist's stamp with the letters A.S., and ochre stamp with the letters E.AS (in the right-hand part of the lower margin, not recorded by Lugt).
18.2 x 17.3 cm (subject)
41 x 27.8 cm (sheet)
This plate was probably part of a larger plate that also included the work described under number F. 60. The whole plate would then have measured 18.2 x 29.8 cm, corresponding to the standard size of the copper plates used for some of the earlier presumed landscapes.
