DescriptionÉtienne Hajdu (1907-1996)
Heraclitus
Paris, Aux dépens de l'artiste, 1965
In-folio (450 x 350 mm), in ff, cloth cover sheathed in black morocco, stamped on the upper cover, publisher's slipcase.
The work is entirely decorated with cold embossing, printed by the artist on his hand press. One of 65 copies on Auvergne paper, signed by the artist at the justification.
"From 1961 to 1967, the sculptor Étienne Hajdu illustrated five books using estampilles, i.e. metal shapes cut out by him and printed on the sheets where they are inscribed in relief (but the reverse is in relief), crushing the pulp of the Auvergne paper (but the reverse remains intact), thus giving it a light that dispenses with any inking" (50 livres illustrés depuis 1947, Paris, Bnf, 1988, cat. 29).
