In-12, brown morocco, spine decorated with multiple blind-stamped bands, red and green title labels, inner border framed by a strip of green morocco, linings and endpapers of unrolled balsa, edges gilt on endpapers, cover and spine, case edged (20th-century binding). First edition of one of Alphonse Daudet’s finest works, his debut novel. ‘Rare and highly sought-after’ (Clouzot), it was not printed on large-format paper.
A copy in good collector’s binding, complete with cover.
Hinges rubbed, a few foxing spots and scattered pinholes; part of the spine of the preserved cover is missing.
